Honest Work &  Generous Giving

November 15, 2023

Have you ever taken something that didn't belong to you? If so, then that would likely be considered stealing. And if so, that likely means that some trust was broken. This past Sunday, we addressed the Principle of Trust that can be found in the 8th Commandment of "thou shall not steal". And to help us identify broken trust and attempt to rebuild trust, we took a look at what the Apostle Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:28 and what that means for us.

To build trust,
we must work honestly
and give generously.

We also looked a few passages that show us who we might be looking like when we steal vs. when we work honestly and give generously.

John 10:10 (NKJV)

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Genesis 1:1 (NKJV)

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 2:15 (NKJV)

Then the Lord God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.

2 Corinthians 9:8 (NLT)

And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.
